Meet Clocks privacy policy
Meet Clocks is a Chrome extension that shows the current time for the people in your Google Meet call.
What stays on your device
- The names and timezones you add by hand, and your settings (12h/24h, tile badges on/off). These are saved with Chrome's own storage (
chrome.storage), which Chrome may sync across your signed-in browsers.
- The extension reads participant names shown on the Meet page so it can match them to the people you added and suggest names. This happens in your browser and is not sent anywhere.
What is sent, and only if you press "Share"
When you press Share your time, the extension sends three things to the Meet Clocks service (a Cloudflare Worker): the display name you chose (filled from your name in Meet), your computer's timezone (for example America/Vancouver), and the code of the meeting you are in. A random identifier created by the extension on your browser tells your entry apart from others.
- Other people in the same meeting who also use Meet Clocks and pressed Share can see that name and timezone. You see theirs.
- The meeting code is the only thing that protects a meeting's list. Anyone who knows the code can read the shared names and timezones for that meeting or add an entry to it, the same way anyone with the code could try to join the call. Do not share a name you would not want visible to people who have the meeting link.
- Your entry is deleted when you leave the meeting or press Stop, and in any case expires 30 minutes after it was last refreshed (the extension refreshes it every 5 minutes while you are in the meeting).
- Nothing is sent unless you press Share, and that choice applies to the current meeting only. In your next meeting the extension asks again, with your name filled in. Without Share the extension works fully on your device.
What we do not do
- No analytics, advertising, tracking or profiling.
- No selling or sharing of data with third parties. The service provider is Cloudflare, which hosts the service.
- No access to your Google account, video, audio, chat, calendar or contacts. The extension only runs on
meet.google.com.
- Your location is not read. The timezone comes from your computer's clock settings.
Your choices
Press Stop to remove your entry immediately. Uninstalling the extension removes everything stored on your device.
